Open Mouth Bag Fillers
An open mouth bag is filled through the top and then closed by sewing, heat sealing, or a pinch bottom closer. It is the most common bag style in agriculture, seed, and feed. The right filler depends on how your product flows.
Choosing by Product Flow
- Free-flowing granules, seeds, pellets — gravity fillers
- Powders and fine blends — auger fillers
- Bridging or non-free-flowing product — belt feed fillers
A single scale will do 6 to 12 bags per minute. Duplex scales designed for high production can exceed 20 bags per minute. Net weigh scales are extremely accurate but at a much higher price.
Gravity Fillers
Gravity fillers use a clamshell gate to drop product straight into the bag. Fast and simple, but not suited to powders. The choice between these two comes down to digital accuracy against mechanical simplicity.

Belt Feed Fillers
Where product bridges or will not flow through a gate, a belt feeder moves it into the bag mechanically. This is the machine for the difficult material.
